Hey guys,
for a while now I've been wanting to add some quests, but I just don't have any ideas. I don't really want to have too much of the general stuff (eg.: "Kill 10 zombies" etc.), I want some unique quests.
Here are two examples of what a good idea for a quest would be:
- Survival Guide (Like in fallout 3) (Split into several parts where you have to kill specific NPCs (sometimes with specific weapons) or gain information about them)
- A quest where you have to bring a brahmin packed with goods from megaton to the gas station

So, if you have an idea, just toss it here, and there might be a chance that it gets added.
Every quest idea that makes it ingame will reward you ingame 1000$. Please provide your steam idea, so I can give you the reward in case your quest idea makes it ingame.

I got one for now where you have to take a quest where someone
like a programmed snpc that follows you that needs to get to the gas station
and you have to deliver him without him dying so it's basically like
you are escorting a VIP to places around the map and they reward you.

Hey, I had an idea for a quest, so the merchant at Megaton has been having troubles lately, his supplies Caravan has been captured by Super Mutant Forces, and without them he can't sell Potions, and he strikes a deal with the player, if he/she can reclaim the Caravan, he will gladly allow them to purchase things at a discount price.

So naturally the player must head over to the Super Mutant spawn and fight their way through their ranks. One of the Traders is found there, but there is still another guy and a Brahmin to be found, the Trader says that these two were delivered to the Combine, located at the water towers, when the player arrives there will be a sizeable Combine presence, after defeating these the player then rescues the last trader but the Trader states the Brahmin ran off to the Death Claw Sanctuary... The player must then get there, and get the Brahmin to follow him/her back to Megaton. They are then rewarded with the Discount as well as 850 exp.

okay. This is MindMuncher, from every game I play... facepunch, steam, this, you name it.

Before I say any quest ideas, the above poster seems to have forgotten that there are no combine, or at least, I was under this impression.

First quest Idea- There needs to be someone in megaton that you can get this from, that isn't the merchant. They will say their friend Jitters is manning the sniping post up on the rise over megaton. He tells you that Jitters is probably running out of food about now, and asks you to take him three pies (just because... I know no right-minded individual eats three pies) and a health potion. He then tells you to go up to the windmill, where the sniping post is (it's on that little windmill platform). So you venture up there, and find the corpse of Jitters. You can go up and inspect it, and if you do, you see that he doesn't have his sniper rifle/equvalant thereof.

You then go back down to tell his concerned friend (you have just earned the first reward- the pies and potion, because nobody needs it, and in the trauma the friend forgets about it). On telling the friend what happened, he gets sad and tells you that the [insert creature near windmill] might have gotten him. You can either say
1-"oh, well, I'm sorry for you, but I can't help anymore."(this ends the quest right here)
2-"They must pay!"(gives you an optional part of the mission where you have to go kill ten of the creatures)
3-"Who will man the sniper post now?"(ends the quest, but opens more dialogue that goes something like this- "Oh, that's a good point! Take this [long ranged weapon] if you would. We need you to guard that post, since no one else is able at the moment." You don't actually have any obligations, but you earn a regular sniper rifle/long ranged weapon.

If you chose 2, then he replies "Yeah, Go kill a couple of Jitters attackers! I want them dead for what they did to him!" This assigns you a killmeter of ten [local creature to the windmill], that you must eliminate. When you kill the tenth one, depending on how silverlan can do it , it'll eaither drop a special sniper rifle that's better than normal, or if you are unable to code that, you return to tell Jitters concerned friend of your exploits(which you'd do anyway), but if you couldn't make the creature drop the special sniper rifle (which would be better than a normal one) the guy who gave you the quest would tell you that he found Jitters weapon, and that you should have it... For all you've done.

End quest.
Definite rewards: one health potion, three pies, 600 experience.
Possible rewards: Special Long ranged weapon, or Average long ranged weapon.

Added (2009-05-28, 8:42 Pm)
---------------------------------------------
Second quest.

A man in megaton will ask you to take a letter to his friend in the mobile home farthest from megaton (not on the ridge above it, the one by the water towers). You take a letter to him, and the friend reads it. Dialogue goes something like this:
"Oh, thank you. I almost never get mail out here!
*reads*
Well, seems like everyone in megaton is doing relatively well, or as well as you can do nowadays."

You can then respond:
1-"I'm on my way back to megaton, would you like me to bring any letters or messages back to anyone there?"
2-"Well, see you later. I'll be going now." (ends quest, giving you 200 Exp.)
3-"While I'm here, do you need anything from me?"

If you say 1, then he says yes, and asks you to kindly bring a letter back to the original quest giver. Once you do this you get 200exp and the quest ends.

If you say 3 he accepts and says something along the lines of:
"Oh good... You see... Oh, I'm such a bad parent...
*pause*
My son got lost a couple days ago...
I'm such a bad parent!

I don't know where he'd be! Please, whenever you go out there, be sure to look for him..."

This gives you a new goal. His son is not anywhere to be found, but if you kill zombies long enough, eventually one will drop one of his sons toys (not sure what) confirming that his son became a zombie.

If you take the toy back to him, he'll say thank you... Then weep or something, then say something along teh lines of:
"Well, thank you... It's so sad, but it happens to everyone eventually... But, a zombie! Why? Why did this hve to happen to him!? At least he's out of his misery now... Please, You've been so good, but I don't know how to repay you... You may have his old book of spells. I think most of them are nonsense, but there might be something in there."

This ends the quest and gives you 200Exp, and a fairly decent offensive spell.

End Quest.
Definite rewards: 200exp.
Possible awards: A fairly decent offensive spell, that takes little mana. Possibly something that lets you fling combine balls (energy balls, or dark matter balls, depending on what you call them) at enemies, but they are much weaker.

Silver said he would use the combine in random events and the like.

Very good ideas!

Quest 1: The Unique Suit

Quest is aquired at: Nimble, at Megaton.
Quest ends in: Megaton, By speaking with Nimble.

Details: Nimble says he overheard some Rebels talking about an advanced suit that one of their buddy's was wearing when some sort of beast killed him in an abondoned, closed up car tunnel. He says it's only a short distance from Megaton. The player has 2 dialogue options

1). Sure. I'll go look for it.
2). Nevermind.

If the player accepts, he/she must make their way up to the car tunnel. As the player makes his/her way down the path to the tunnel they encounter a few zombies that attack.
When the player arrives at the tunnel, a Panthereye comes bursting out, attacking the player, after the fight the player finds a dead and bloody Rebel in the cave, and can search the body and obtain the suit.
The player must then make his/her way back to Nimble and give him the suit, he then rewards the player with: 400exp, 4 meat pies, and 4 clips of pistol ammunition.

Details about Zombies and Panthereye: Zombies should spawn from left and right on the path. When the player gets near the car tunnel a panthereye should growl and spawn in the cave and come out.

I had an idea, so...

Quest Name: Mirelurk Mayhem

Given by: An Npc in Megaton named Franky, who is located in the first house on the right when you come out of the Vault.

Summary: Franky has heard from another rebel that a special kind of Mirelurk has been found recently that lays a golden egg clutch, which contains powerful magical components supposedly. Franky, being a bit of a coward, doesn't wish to travel to the Mirelurk spawn to find this out, so he asks if the player may assist, they are given a radio for directions from Franky. If the player accepts, then they must travel to the Mirelurk spawn, there Franky calls the player via radio and says that the player should try and find this new Mirelurk variant, as it carries the egg clutch with it. The player must then kill 35 mirelurks of any type until the strange new mirelurk appears, this mirelurk, called a "JuggerLurk", is a mirelurk that is golden, is a few feet taller than the others, and has a glow-in-the-dark skin like the NukaLurk, it has a ranged attack where it bombards the player with a shitload of explosive projectiles, which launch a few feet into the air above it, then one-by-one fire at the player, when the JuggerLurk reaches low hp, it will launch them all at the same time immediately. When it dies, it drops the Golden Egg Clutch, which the player retrieves and returns to Megaton. There they will present Franky with the clutch who congratulates the player.

Reward: 750 exp, one of each potion except the ressurect one, and 3 Mirelurk scrolls.

Sorry for Re-post here, had to remove quest 1 and edit quests 2, and 3 a bit.
_________________________________

Quest 3: Scientific Endeavours

Quest is Aquired from: Scientist Magnusson, At Scientist outpost in wasteland.
Quest ends at: Scientist Magnusson, At Scientist outpost in wasteland.

Details:
At a scientist outpost deep in the Capital Wasteland, guarded by 4-6 rebels from the many zombie attacks, is Scientist Magnusson who is having a difficult time trying to convince his research partner, Kruglov, to go out and take a few readings of the radiation and mutant activity.
Kruglov refuses to go for he fears losing his life to the many mutants and zombies that are outside the outpost.
The player may then talk to Magnusson about the quest, Magnusson offers he'll trade with the player as long as he helps Kruglov, and 2 dialogue choices appear:

1). Sure, I'll protect Kruglov.
2). Sorry, I'll have to agree with Kruglov on this one

Should the player accept, He/she must protect Kruglov as he makes his way out a short distance from the Scientist Outpost
{Kruglov is armed with only a pistol}
Kruglov and the player are attacked by many Leperkins and Zombies, etc.
{In the event that Kruglov should die, his PDA will drop from his corpse, and it will start beaping, indicating a message is coming in if the player presses 'Use Key' on it, Magnusson will say "Is he dead?! Come back here immediantly!!" The player must then make his/her way back to Magnusson. The quest is ended after talking to Magnusson and the player is rewarded with trading with Magnusson, but no extra rewards are given.
Once Kruglov takes his first reading, he tells you that he cannot get a good reading, and beckons you and himself to move on.
After more battling of Zombies and Leperkins for a short more distance Kruglov finally arrives at a good spot and takes his final reading, then the player must escort Kruglov back to the outpost. Magnusson thanks you for the readings as it will allow him to determine why so many zombies and mutants scour the area.
Magnusson then Rewards the player with 2000EXP, 600$, and 2 healing potions, and one full life potion, along with trading with Magnusson. And the quest is ended.

Thats what I have, I'm not sure if it can all be done, but I think some parts might have to be changed a little to make it work out...

I'm sorry... but alot of the quest recently suggested don't sound feasable... a blood trail leading to where he foes? How would that work on a multiplayer server... everyone would alwasy see one, or at least most of the time. You also, couldn't really have mini-movie type sceneraios with lots of people. The quests can't effect very many people... and what's all this about like tunnels and building and hideouts? We do have to use atomic dude, we can't just spawn a building because your quest wants it... Oh, tehe, I was saying we, I meant silverlan.

A random encounter with a scavenger trying to get to a randomly selected merchant on the map (a marker should pinpoint the location of the merchant), such as the "Megaton" merchant to deliver some parts.
Though, he lacks medical supplies and is hurt badly to the look of appearance too; talking to him will make him ask you for assistance replying "Yes" will making him say "Well let's get going then" replying with "Sure, but what's this job worth to you?" will cause him to say "We'll talk about that later I need to get going for the delivery, we don't want to the the seller waiting!" after the escort by selecting the second reply he'll give you leveled ammo, but selecting "Yes" will cause the merchant that has gotten the delivery to have a discount on the prices and gives you a randomly selected, (if multiple, then a leveled amount"), item in his inventory, because of your good deed, killing the scavenger yourself will cause the merchant to temporarily (say 30 minutes on the server) raise the prices and say "How would you like it if I rip you off, huh?" (realistically the merchant heard a rumor about you killing the scavenger)
Selecting "no" for the reply will cause the scavenger to say get killed by a leveled monster or npc with a ranged attack to spawn in the distance and kill him with the ranged attack, if the scavenger die any way well recover the spoils! Oh and if the scavenger dies while you are escorting him after 20 seconds, talking to the merchant will cause him to say "What!?! My deliverer has died, and the stuff I've ordered are out there! Hey you're the one that attempted to escort him,
can you be the deliverer's temporary successor and help me out, get the supplies I need, I'll make it worth you while!" recovering the supplies will cause him to say: "Alright, thanks for you help, hey sorry for yelling at you like that I just freak out when I loose something important, here's something for your troubles." And he gives you a randomly selected, (if multiple, then a leveled amount"), item in his inventory. Oh the random encounter might have about a 15% chance of happening to you.

Helping a Stranger

Info: The quest starts when you open a door inside the house on the hill to the right of Megaton, there is a woman scared.

Dialog: "How the hell did you make it in here? Oh forget that .. look, I've been hiding in here for days from those .. things out there. If you can activate that water tower outside Ill be fine. I will even pay you , how does that sound? "
Answers: " Sure whatever you say " OR
" You are on your own "

When you press E here a message comes up that tells you It doesn't have enough power, you will have to find some way to turn it on.

If you travel somewhere inside the tunnels you can find a control panel that looks like its for the town, pressing on this will give it the power it needs.

Go back talk to the lady again, tell her the tower should work now.

Dialog: " Thanks for your help, I would have died up here for certain. You know .. I could get used to this room now that I got plenty to drink! Here is your payment."

Take the stuff or whatever perks and XP

NOTE: This might seem crazy and impossible quest...

But here goes:

Quest name: King Deathclaw

What to do: Kill King Deathclaw.

Here's how i thought of it. You go to the gas station where you find some npc as the quest unlocker. So you talk to him, he tells you that locals in this zone were being attacked by Deathclaws lately more often than usual. So he thought that there's gotta be some kind of explanation behind all these attacks, as they seem so coordinated. So he asks you to find out what's going on and sends you to the Deathclaw sanctuary in the map.
Ok, so if you say yes, he would be all Thanks and stuff promises you a reward blah blah... And if you say no, well the quest won't be activated.

If you decide to go with the quest, he gives you 20 full life potions, 20 mana potions and 80 units of ammo to every weapon you carry.
After that, You have to go the Deathclaw sanctuary.

When you enter the Deathclaw sanctuary the quest starts a kill counter up to 3 Deathclaw kills that you have to do. So you circle around, waiting and seeking Deathclaws. When you manage to kill 3 Deathclaws, a different looking Deathclaw appears. He's like 2x-4x stronger than normal.
you have to kill it, and that's it.

So if you manage to kill it. It drops loot which gives you something like a Deathclaw scythe.
After picking up the loot, you go back to the npc which gave you the quest and promises to build a very strong melee weapon from the Deathclaw scythe.
So, as reward, he would give you something of 1000$, 15 exp(check the quest req) and Deathclaw gauntlet weapon.

So this is my simple yet quite cool idea(in my opinion) i thought of. Maybe bit too hard to complete but i thought it for those who are skilled in this gamemode.

Quest reqs:
-Need to be at least level 85, otherwise you can't do the quest.

Tell me what you guys think.

15 exp(check the quest req)

A normal deathclaw gives you 636 exp, so 15 seems a bit less, especially since he's a lot stronger than the normal ones.

Quote (MadMaxCow)
Deathclaw gauntlet

I can't make the fallout 3 weapons. There are no viewmodels for them.

Quote (MadMaxCow)
-Need to be at least level 85, otherwise you can't do the quest.

At level 85 you can't even kill a deathclaw yet. You'd have to be at least level 98.

Anyways, I think I need to be more specific on what I want. The quests shouldn't:
- need any custom stuff (eg. models) (unless you can tell me where to get it, but even then I'd prefer to not add custom stuff for just one quest)
- have to do with supermutants/combines (since they are both not implemented yet)

They should:
- be doable on the map as it is right now (there is no cave yet, so please don't suggest any quests which plays in a cave)
- be doable by lowlevels (Since there are a lot more players below level 20 than above)
- be doable in multiplayer (That means that several players at once should be able to do the quest)

Ok your rules seem fair enough:

Quote (Silverlan)
- be doable on the map as it is right now (there is no cave yet, so please don't suggest any quests which plays in a cave)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------
npc dialogue "The vault is too riddled with these darn roaches, they come around everywhere! Could you do me a favor?
Waste those damned creatures! Not all.. as they seem to constantly come out of nowhere. But as much as you can!"

then the task would be like to, kill 50 roaches.

Could this work ingame?
